| Golfing, Cricketing sense fail to get Farooq political maturity | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 15: National Conference President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah may be an established golf player or a person with good cricketing sense, but politics demand maturity and temperament from the person who is heading a premier regional party in the state. Farooq is missing both these qualities. It is his biased politics which has made the NC suffer immensely. NC leaders and workers are lost in deep thoughts these days and most of them are having their hands on their heads and wrinkles are also seen on their foreheads depicting the utter frustration. Their only concern is as to what will happen to the party in the coming assembly elections. "National Conference has paid a heavy price for its politics of opportunities and is heading for a debacle. It is likely to face white wash in the valley and the party has been virtually uprooted in Jammu given the performance of BJP and PDP in that division," said Nazir Ahmad, resident of the summer capital. The twisting statements and changing stances of NC, which has been its history, has filled the hearts of the people with hate. The leaders of this party are so short tempered that they can hold the innocents by their collars and can thrash them in full public gaze. "Law makers from this party cross the limits by taking the law in their own hands. Only some days back a top leader of this party slapped a traffic cop regulating traffic at Baramulla. Recent election rally of NC was marred by Mohammad Akbar Lone's rude behavior," said some people while sharing their ideas with Early Times. These people went on saying that the influential workers of NC interfere in the affairs of the departments and get things done their own way. To whom will the National Conference give mandate in the coming assembly elections and with whom it will forge an alliance now since there is a huge trust deficit between the coalition partners which came to fore during the parliamentary elections, is a million dollar question. Going by the exit polls, there is nothing encouraging in store for the UPA and as far as the parliamentary elections are concerned, it is going to be its worst ever performance. This is going to leave NC hanging in the air. Another group of people while talking to Early Times said, "If Modi succeeds forming the government at the centre, it will have an interesting impact on the politics of Jammu & Kashmir. Given this impact, as analysts say, BJP will shine in Jammu province and PDP will gain remarkably in Kashmir province hence a possibility of BJP- PDP alliance which the people will prefer over the one in power." |
