| Mutilated body of missing pregnant woman found ; Agitated villagers clash with police, disturbs rail, vehicular traffic | | | Saahil Suhail Kulgam, May 15 : Clashes between the agitated villagers and police erupted abruptly in Mirbazar area of Kulgam district after some of locals found the mutilated dead body of 25 years old missing pregnant lady in the fields near a bus stop in the area after a fortnight. The locals alleged inaction of police in this regard. The deceased lady was identified by Police as Sumaira Jan daughter of Ghulam Muhammad Mir resident of Sadoora Qazigund. According to an eyewitness said few villagers during their daily chores at the fields found the mutilated body of missing woman with half burnt face and visible torture marks this morning and accordingly informed local police. As soon as the news of recovery of the deceased woman's body spread in the area including her native village, the residents from sadoora and Mir Bazaar staged a protest demonstration demanding prompt action in this regard and early arrest of culprits involved in the heinous crime. While staging protest against the alleged negligence shown by the police in recovering the missing lady, the agitated protestors blocked the road and disturbed vehicular movement on Srinagar Jammu National Highway NH-1A. Some of the protestors also created blockades at Banihal-Baramullah Rail Service as a result the rail service remained suspend for hours together. During their protest, the protesters also resorted to stone pelting and reportedly damaged window panes of the FSL Van which had arrived on the spot for collecting some circumstantial evidences for its investigation. Meanwhile to disperse the protestors the police used tear smoke shells and mild cane charge. According to police, the 25 years old Sumaira Jan (d/o Ghulam Muhammad Mir of Sadoora Qazigund) was married to one Mehboob Mir of Babdar Fathepora Larkipora Anantnag some eight months ago. Here it needs to mention that police statement issued on May 12, stated a lady is reported to be missing since 08/05/2014 from Babadar, Fathapora area of Anantnag District. Giving details SHO Anantnag said that Mehboob Ahmad Mir resident of Babadar, Anantnag reported in police post Sher Bagh that his wife Sumaira Jan age about 25 years went to Sher Bagh hospital today and didn't return back. Police post Sher Bagh lodged a missing report and launched search operation to trace the missing lady. |
