| Marwah -Warwan cut off as -old Marwah Bridge collapses | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 15 : The only surface link between snow clad Marwah and Warwan area of mountainous district of Kishtwar -the old wooden bridge constructed over river Marrusudar collapsed leaving over 40000 souls cut off from rest of the state. As per the details, the only wooden bridge connecting remote Marwah valley through surface link collapsed due to recent incessant rain and snowfall witnessed in the area. "Sensing urgency, the government today Deputed Chief Engineer R&B Abdul Hamid Sheikh & Executive Engineer R&B Division Marwah Abdul Rashid Bhat (Rxecutive Engr R&B) and others rushed to remote area by a chopper to assess the damages to the bridge and its due repairs, reports said. Reports said after taking stock of the damages, the Chief Engineer R&B will submit its report to government so that the work on this historic bridge could be undertaken. It is pertinent to mention that Marwah and Warwan area of Kishtwar District having nearly 50000 population remains cut off from other parts of the state during 6 months in winters beside the area also sans of electricity and other means of communication. It is only the summer months when the remote area get connected with rest of state through a only road connectivity to Warwan area. Although the government has sanctioned a project to enhance the road connectivity to the area some over two decades ago but the work on the road is moving at snail pace reasons better known to concerned authorities. |
