| Cong nervous; NC decisive! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 21: The Congress party has started to prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections and party is contemplating few changes in anticipation to regain the lost ground. The Congress party lost all the three Parliamentary seats, which they contested pre-poll alliance including Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh and their performance in Kashmir valley, where NC was contesting and Congress was supporting, remained dismal. The grass root level Congress workers and leaders across regions and sub-regions are of the view that changes are must to ensure that the party does good in upcoming Assembly elections, which is going to be litmus test for the party. The Congress leaders are of the opinion that until and unless Congress leaders, Ministers and other functionaries reach out to people with their report card and new programmes, there is little chance that fortunes of the party could change. Many leaders within the party are of the opinion that whatever steps Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is taking is aimed at gaining the popular support for National Conference and Congress party has nothing to show. "Our Ministers must clear what is their role in the decision making of this government, whether it is scrapping New Recruitment Policy, lifting of SMS ban or new administrative units. It seems that every decision is being credited to NC and Congress ministers are not reacting to it," said a senior Congress leader. He said that government is that of the coalition and whatever decisions, good or bad must be attributed to both. We must get our due share," the Congress leader added. Many Congress workers and leaders are of the same opinion that Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and other senior leaders must act fast and get their acts together. |
