Early Times Report

Jammu, May 21: Following his tweet over the decision to scrap the 'New Recruitment Policy' in the state, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today made this happen by announcing formal revocation of the order which his government approved in 2011 with loads of explanations behind this move. The decision to revoke this order was taken today in the Cabinet meeting apparently in pursuant of the thought that this would be a corrective measure in direction of undoing damage on multiple fronts that led to debacle of coalition partners in the LS polls. While Omar has contended that what necessitated promptness of this step is the feedback he has received during the last couple of days from people but there is more to what is being projected as behind this decision.
Sources said as NC has pushed itself into serious introspective mode where fingers were pointed more towards the ill advised moves by CM's coterie of at least two leaders and even grass root level functionaries having given feedback on similar lines that damage was done at the cost of some wrong decisions at two premier provinces , the axe was likely to fall on them with voices getting loud for changing the guard and replacing the provincial presidents. However, in order to distract and divert the attention of the entire hierarchy, particularly the voices from old guard of NC, the CM's coterie got active once again to train the guns and target the Finance Minister A R Rather over this issue. Sources said that in a very deft manner the CM has tried to convey that whatever wrong which he now sees in this Recruitment policy, was done at the behest of Finance Minister.
Rather, it may be recalled has remained an eyesore for CM's coterie for a number of reasons and it has been active for the last few years to dislodge him through various tactics which however did not work well.Sources said that in this move as well, the main target has been the Finance Minister while the CM now portrays it as having annoyed a particular section of people who were entitled to very meager perks as per the provisions of the order issued in 2011. One may presume so for once, but there are questions CM is faced with from a larger chunk of the population as to whether this was the only reason for debacle in the polls and did government fair well on other people oriented issues of governance ...? CM has to explain the urgency of scrapping this order which he too ( as head of the government) deemed proper only three years back particularly in the wake of the hard fact that state is facing financial constraints which do not allow full pay scale to be given for a considerable number of unemployed appointed during these years.
