| Implement order on TRC sumo stand or appear in person:HC to DC Srinagar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 21: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Deputy Comissioner Srinagar to ensure implementation of orders in letter and spirit regarding sumo stand at Tourist Reception Centre in Srinagar. "The implementation of the order in letter and spirit has not been carried forward so far. The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir as well as deputy Commissioner Srinagar are directed to ensure the demolition of the hut and removal of the signboard from the site," a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar said. "J&K Sports Council may be provided adequate security so as to enable it to complete the fencing of 33 meter wall and dismantling of hut etc," the court said, directing that the needful shall be done before next date of hearing on May 29. "If needful is not done, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar shall remain present in person on next date of hearing," the court said. On last date of hearing, the court had directed If we find that the despite orders by this court, as upheld by Supreme Court, if sumo vehicle continue to operate from the site, then action under contempt of courts act shall be initiated against all erring officers. The direction followed submission by counsel appearing for the J&K Sports Council stated that the area which belongs to the department has not so far been handed over to it which imply that sumo vehicle still continue to operate from that area along with the huts existing on the site. |
