"Any loan sanctioned under KCC scheme is verified and looked by a special team called Apple Team. "The defaulter can deceive one but not everyone. Apple Team is comprised of so many members and there is genuine proof that he has secured the loan," he said adding that there are three guarantors who are witness to it," he said. He further added that, "Farmers are exempt from submitting documents related to the land title at the time of annual renewal of the card, even if the land is already hypothecated to the bank due to a charge against a previous loan, because there is no risk of change in the land ownership. At present, new borrowers are required to pay 7% interest on such loans while farmers who have made payments on time get a further subvention of 3%, bringing down the interest rate effectively to 4%. It is pertinent to mention here that the KCC scheme was introduced in August 1998, with a major share of crop loans being routed through it, and it was further extended in 2006-07 to the state cooperative agriculture and rural development banks so that all short-term loan requirements for cultivation could be covered under a single window. |
