KC Public School wins Inter School TT Tourney

Jammu, May 24: K.C Public School clinched the title for Under-14 and Under-17 Inter School Table Tennis Championship organized by Department of Youth Services and sports at M.A Stadium in both Boys and Girls categories. According to spokesperson of school, teams from atleast 10 schools participated in this tournament and KC Public School was declared as winners in this championship in Under 14 and Under 17 events in both Boys and Girls categories. Team members of the school team included namely as Abhay Kaul, Ritvik Gupta, Ashank Mahajan, Amrit Kaul, Anant Rohmetra, Hanumant Sharma, Jai Bhardwaj, Naman Mahajan, Shreya Mahajan, Bhavya Rakhwal and Jahanvi.
Meanwhile Principal of the school Amarendra Kumar Mishra and faculty members have congratulated the students and their coach Ashima Sharma for their victory.

Inter-school badminton, chess meet begins

JAMMU, May 24: Annual inter-school Jammu district badminton and chess competition in under-14 and under-17 boys section started today at different venues, here under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
Preliminary round of competition took place in badminton at BSF Stadium, Paloura here on the opening day today.
The Detailed Results:
Preliminary Round: Under-17 yr: DPS bt JK Public School Kunjwani 2-1; Heritage bt Oriental Academy 2-0; MNAC Nagbani bt Guru Nanak Public School, Gole Gujral 2-0; St. Peter bt KC Gurukul 2-0; APS Domana bt Dogra HSS 2-0.
Under-14 yr: JK Public School Panjthiri bt Guru Nanak Public School, Gole Gujral 2-1; MIER bt Heritage School 2-0; APS Domana bt MHAC Nagbani 2-1; JK Public School Kunjwani bt KC Public School 2-1.
CHESS: Meanwhile, semifinals were played today in under-14 and under-17 boys' chess tournament at the multipurpose hall of Deputy Directorate Office, Gandhi Nagar, here.
While Yaksh Chopra and Lovjot Singh have made it to the final of under-14 category, Prabnoor Singh and Navdeep Singh have qualified for the title clash in under-17 age group tomorrow.
The Detailed Results: Under-14 yr: Semifinals: Yaksh Chopra of Heritage School bt Vaibhav of SOS and Lovjot Singh of APS Miran Sahib bt Ahtsham of MIER. Under-17 yr: Semifinals: Prabnoor Singh of Jodhamal Public School bt Aryan of Heritage and Navdeep Singh of DPS bt Harsit of KC International.


DFA Jammu starts registration tomorrow

JAMMU, May 24: The annual registration of clubs and process of inter-club transfers of those footballer players of District Football Association (DFA) Jammu shall start from May 24, here.
To begin with the inter-club transfer process shall start from May 26. The withdrawal, if any, by such players shall take place on June one, followed by the scrutiny on June two.
"The annual registration of the clubs, affiliated with DFA Jammu shall take place between June three and June 18 at Mini Stadium, Parade," general secretary of the DFA Jammu, Mohan Lal said.

Srinagar boys, girls enter basketball final

JAMMU, May 24: District Srinagar today made it to the final of both under-17 girls' and boys basketball tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here.
Playing straightway in the semifinals, Srinagar girls blanked Pulwama district 20-00. Earlier, in a preliminary round match, Jammu trounced district Samba 22-06. Now, Jammu shall take on district Udhampur in the semifinals tomorrow. In all, five districts turned up for this knockout competition.
Meanwhile, in under-17 boys section, Srinagar, Jammu and Udhampur districts have qualified for the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, played today, Jammu defeated Kishtwar 20-00. Earlier, in the preliminary round, Jammu boys did not allow district Kulgam to open their account making it a 37-00 win.
Similarly, getting bye in the opening round, district Srinagar outplayed Budgam 23-00 to confirm berth in the last four stages. To reach the semifinals, district Udhampur defeated district Samba.
The match between district Baramulla and Kupwara shall decide the fourth semifinalist team tomorrow.
Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, Srinagar shall take on district Udhampur while Jammu shall face the winner of match between Baramulla and Kupwara. In total, 13 districts of the state reported to the organizers for boys' competition.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Vishal Bharti, Amit Kalsi, Vaneet Pangotra, Rajesh Bandral and Mousmi Verma.

SOUL observes 'Int'I AIDS Candle Light Memorial' day

Jammu, May 24: Social Organisation for Universal Living (SOUL) a social group today observed 31st International AIDS Candle Light Memorial day here, under the theme "Let's Keep the Light on HIV" in the memory of those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS and to spread mass awareness on stopping the virus from spreading further.
The Memorial Day was observed at Jammu University wherein hundreds of people including youth participated and lid candles in the memory of those who have lost live to AIDS. The Memorial Day in the Jammu was conducted by SOUL president, Pardeep Singh Bali and Vice president K Koushal in the active participation of SOUL activists. Speaking on the occasion, Pardeep Singh that this year's theme "Let's Keep the Light on HIV" becomes quite relevant for the people to move forward to fight the menace of HIV/AIDS. "The International AIDS Candle Light Day is observed every year to remember those who have lost their lives due to HIV and reduced HIV related stigma and discrimination in the society," Pardeep Singh said.
Addressing gathering, vice president K Koushal thanked all the participants and urged upon them to disseminate the message further to make this Memorial Day 'word-of-the-day' in Jammu its peripheries.
