| Holding public darbar in Srinagar won't help Omar | | He must end discrimination with Jammu first | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has once again started the process of public darbar in summer capital Srinagar and on Friday met with as many as 60 deputations of various parts of the state.
Omar never started this kind of public darbar in winter capital Jammu during his more than five-year rule in the state.
His move of re-starting the public darbar is part of the introspection process after the worst ever poll debacle but Omar is yet to understand that it was not only the Kashmir valley which made him the Chief Minister but the six seats of Jammu region, from where NC candidates won the Assembly elections in 2008 gave NC edge over other parties and became the single largest party in the state.
Now, when the Chief Minister could have give something back to the people of the state who elected him and his party, the NC working president is only focusing on the Kashmir valley which has given his party a big zero in Lok Sabha elections.
The Jammu region has been deprived on any such kind of public darbar of the Chief Minister where people, who can't afford to go to Srinagar, could have reached out to the Chief Minister with their set of problems and issues pertaining to the day to day life.
The introspection need for the Chief Minister is not only in Valley, from where NC gets maximum seats but in Jammu as well which has always supported NC, even in difficult times.
The NC working president, who happens to be the Chief Minister of the state, must end the discrimination with Jammu region should come out of Valley and hold public darbar in every district of the state irrespective of the fact that whether NC has any base in these areas or not.
It is wider known fact that Jammu has always been discriminated by the Valley centric politicians but when these leaders need any help, it is people of Jammu which have come forward in odd situations.
The Jammu based NC leaders must aware Chief Minister that only meeting people in Srinagar won't help and Omar Abdullah must hold similar kind of public darbars in Jammu also.
It is also known that when darbar is in Jammu, Omar holds public darbars in Srinagar not in Jammu he doesn't care for people. He must come out of it and address the problems of people of each and every part of the state. |
