Omar may not attend swearing-in | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 24: The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is unlikely to attend swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, Omar had received the invitation, like many other Chief Ministers and senior politicians. Omar had tweeted recently that he hasn't received any invitation. However, the invitation was sent as soon as his tweet surfaced on twitter. Sources said Omar doesn't want to attend the ceremony as it would be quite uncomfortable for him. Omar had been highly critical of Modi during electioneering. "Omar had positioned himself as the media darling and projected him as a good administrator. It would be very difficult for him to answer queries about debacle of the party especially from the Srinagar, which the party had also lost," said a senior NC leader. Another reason party sources said that he doesn't want to be in the event where Congress vice-president would also be present. In an recent interview he had said the his line of electioneering to project Rahul didn't go well with the voters. "He has with this statement even put the blame on the Rahul Gandhi about whom he was talking so high and loud. The Congress vice-president is also bound to be annoyed with it and most importantly Omar doesn't want to face the national media, which he had loved so much at the expense of the local media and representatives of the national media working in the State," the sources said. The sources said the most difficult and embarrassing position would be the reasons on being asked about the defeat of Dr Farooq Abdullah. "Dr Farooq had not lost a single elections in his entire career. He lost it when his son is the CM, how will Omar explain it? These all the reasons Omar is avoiding going to Delhi," said a source. |
