Jammu, May 24: KC Gurukul Public School Paloura brought laurels by attaining 2nd Position in 2nd District Under 14 and 17 Petanque Championship held on at KC International School Jammu. Various clubs participated in the championship. Under-14 Girls Team (Dhanya, Preetika Mahajan, Kaasvi Chabra, Jagriti Gupta) of KC Gurukul bagged Silver Medal and Under-17 Girls Team (Ambika Bharadwaj, Riya Gupta, Paavni Chabra, Vidushi, Shirin Raina) also won Silver Medal. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated and awarded the students for their achievement. Academic Director, Vijay Puri later felicitated the winners and was proud of their success in their endeavor.
KCIS excels in district Petanque meet Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: Hosts KC International School (KCIS) excelled in the two-day 2nd Jammu District Petanque Championship organised by J&K Pentanque Association, here today. The KCIS team bagged the overall championship trophy while KC Gurukul School remained second. Third place went to Army Public School (APS) Domana. Member Parliament (MP), Dr Jitender Singh was chief guest in the valedictory function, who encouraged the young participants from different educational institutions. Principal of KCIS, Dr Ravi Bhushan and Rajinder Sharma were guests of honour. The competition held under the supervision of Association general secretary, Tarsem Sharma.
RM College organises alumni meet

Jammu, May 24: RM College of Education today organised an Alumni meet in the college premises. Trustee of the college Rita Mengi, Principal P K Dhar, faculty members and students from different sessions participated in the meeting. The programme started with the welcome address by Sharika Mahajan Senior lecturer and in charge of the programme. Pass out students from different sessions and different states introduced themselves and shared their experience with others. To remind them of various activities Lect. Manu Bakshi presented a PowerPoint presentation. While speaking on the occasion Rita Mengi Trustee of the college laid stress on such meetings for improving the short comings of the college and also for further development of the college. A committee of Alumni was also framed on this occasion in which one of the students Mrs. Shashi Jamwal was elected as president, Mrs Harshleen Kour as secretary,Mrs Anuradha Abrol as joint secretary and Ms Priyanka as cashier along with fifteen members.Cultural programmes were also presented by students. Principal of NSK High School, Channi Hemet, Jammu, S K Abrol was special guest on this occasion and also expressed his views. At last the function was concluded by the speech of Principal PK Dhar.
Seminar on "Teacher Education in India -Challenges and Initiatives" held

Jammu, May 24: Kawa College of Education organised a seminar on the topic "Teacher Education in India-Challenges and Initiatives" on the other day in which a large number of students participated. Prof Desh Bandhu Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest of the function whereas Prof Darshana Sharma of from Distance Education, University of Jammu attended occasion as Guest of Honour and Prof N S Gupta HOD (Retd) Business School, University of Jammu, shared dais as special invitee. Principals and Faculties from the different colleges participated in this seminar. The chief guest Prof Desh Bandhu Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu and guest of honour Prof Darshana Sharma from Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu spoke on this occasion and appreciated the efforts of the host institute which will go in long way to improve confidence among students. They said such events not only improve their communicative skills but also update them about the happening about the education sector. Besides these two dignitaries, the special invitee Prof N S Gupta also spoke on the topic "Teacher Education in India- Challenges and Initiatives". Earlier at the onset of occasion the special invitees formally lighted the traditional lamp which was followed by welcome address by Er M S Katoch, Chairman of the College. The proceedings of Seminar were divided into two Technical Sessions viz. 1st Session was chaired by Prof Darshana Sharma and the second was chaired by Prof N S Gupta. Meanwhile during valedictory function, Prof Rajeev Gupta Pro Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu was the chief guest while Prof Pankaj Srivastav Dean Student Welfare, University of Jammu shared dais as guest of honour. They also spoke opn the topic and highlighted various aspects related to the technical education. At the, end of occasion formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Anita Bali Principal of the College.
'Investiture ceremony' organised at Jodhamal School

Jammu, May 24: Investiture Ceremony of Prefect Council 2014-15 of Jodhamal Public School was held at school premises in which faculty members, students and their parents participated with great enthusiasm. Young leaders from grade XI and XII i.e. the Head Girl, Head Boy, House Captains each from Challenge House, Discovery House, Enterprise House, Invention House and the Academic Prefect, CCA, Discipline and Sports Prefects/ Vice Prefects were formally inducted during the investiture ceremony. Brigadier (Retd) R S Jamwal was the chief guest on this occasion while Trilok Singh Bist, Principal of the School presided over the ceremony. Brigadier (Retd) R S Jamwal accompanied with Trilok Singh Bist, Principal of the School presented the badges to the new Head Boy Anmol Mahajan and the new Head Girl Raggaad Rafiq of Secondary Wing. "Deputy Head Boy Mayank Mahajan, Deputy Head Girl Khushboo Khorana, Neutral PrefectsVidushi Jamwal, Meenal Jain, Anmol Palak, Sarthak Sharma, Mehak Sharma, Samiksha Thusoo and Abhijeet Singh, the Vice Prefects and House Prefects/Vice Prefects were also inducted to the office by the chief guest, spokesperson of school said. The chief Guest also inducted Ms Roopinder Kaur and S Ganguli as Prefect Masters to take charge of the team Student Council at JMPS. Chief guest Brigadier (Retd) R S Jamwal, in his address exhorted the students to remain devoted to their academics to be at the top in present competitive era. He also asked teaching faculty to inculcate moral values among students so that they become a responsible citizens. Earlier Principal of school administered the Oath to Prefect Council in presence of the Chief Guest Brigadier (Retd) RS Jamwal and august gathering. During today's investiture ceremony 36 newly elected young leaders were entrusted with the responsibility. The statement further claimed school encourages leadership qualities, mutual respect, cooperation and leadership qualities at all levels in JMPS. |
