| BJP trying to lure Cong leaders feeling suffocated in party | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 26: To win maximum Assembly seats in coming Assembly elections, BJP is trying to lure some prominent leaders of Congress to consolidate its position in the areas considered as weak for the party. Credible sources in the BJP said that to achieve the much touted target of 44 seats, the party is trying to lure influential leaders of other parties especially Congress. The party has been targeting those Congress leaders who have been feeling suffocated in their party due to factionalism. Credible sources said that after getting green signal from the high command, BJP leadership has opened channel of communications with outspoken Congress leader and former Lok Sabha member from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua seat Chowdhary Lal Singh who was denied mandate in the just concluded Parliamentary elections. Sources said that party high command has assigned job to the group of leaders to start talks with Chowdhary Lal Singh who is angry with the party leadership after he was denied mandate. "We have already opened channel of communication with Chowdhary Lal Singh through some mediators", a senior BJP leader told Early Times, pleading anonymity. He said that it was premature to say but one thing is clear that Chowdhary Lal Singh is feeling suffocated in the Congress after the Parliamentary elections. Sources further said that BJP is very particular to win seats in Samba, Udhampur and Kathua districts so party is trying to lure some influential leaders of Congress. |
