| NC high command to take 'feedback' of Jammu region | | After Nawai-Subh-Complex, Sher-i-Kashmir Bhavan readying for 'introspection' | | Working Committee meeting to follow
Jammu, May 26: After Nawai-Subhu-Complex, it is Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan which is getting readied for a marathon introspective session to be convened by the end of this month.Shattered completely by debacle in LS polls, as ruling National Conference continues to look into its causes, the High command has mooted a similar threadbare session to be held in Jammu province as the party did in Srinagar few days back. Though NC did not contest any seat in the Jammu province, the high command wants to get a feedback on the basis of the experience of cadres from the field as to what is party's position and strength in the entire region. This would be followed up by party's Working Committee meeting, which is highest forum in which some vital decisions with regard to preparations for Assembly elections would be taken. Sources said while NC continues with its spree of meetings at various levels to introspect and go deeper into the reasons and causes for defeat, the high command has asked for holding of at least one such session in Jammu region to get teh feedback from those who canvassed in support of Congress candidates in various constituencies across the region. The meeting has been convened by the end of this month but a final date is yet to be decided said the sources adding that preparations have been started with respect to sending invitations to all key functionaries at district and block level. Both Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and party president Dr Farooq Abdullah would attend the meeting to be held in the Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan sources said adding that apart from Provincial level office bearers some ministerial colleagues of Chief Minister from the party would also remain present in the meeting to give their 'report card' of Jammu. Sources further said in the Jammu meeting the high command would interact with block and district presidents and seek their feedback as to what is the party's position at various levels particularly which are considered to be NC stronghold segments traditionally. The High Command would also take an assessment of the fact that as to how having alliance with Congress and supporting its candidates in Jammu was received by the people and party supporters. This would be a report card functionaries, senior leaders and district, block level functionaries would present on the basis of their experience of just concluded LS polls, sources said it would be vital in the sense as the High command would move ahead with its strategy for LS polls after having assessment of this feedback from the functionaries in Jammu region. It is not just feedback from the ground level, the high command would also solicit suggestions and their viewpoint for certain decisions in offing which would be incorporated while deciding on many such matters, sources added. However, the most important step to be taken by NC shortly would be seen convening of its Working Committee meeting, apparently after a long gap in which it would discuss political matters with senior most leaders from both the regions. While some changes are in likely in terms of organisational reshuffle, setting up panels at the provincial levels may also happen to spearhead the Assembly polls preparations, sources added.
