| Sonamarg 'freaky incident' resolved cordially: Army | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 26 : To remove the misgivings that had arisen due to the scuffle between the Army and JK Police at Sonamarg with the Chief of Staff of Chinar Corps, Major General JS Cheema paid a visit to the Sonamarg based High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) and carried out detailed deliberations in a very congenial atmosphere with the senior officials of HAWS, JK Police, Traffic Police and civil administration. According to an army statement issued to Srinagar based news agency, the stakeholders jointly concluded that a freak incident caused due to the misunderstanding between the personnel of Army and JK Police should not be allowed to adversely affect the synergy among the security forces and with the civil administration. "The personnel prima facie found to be involved in the incident will be immediately replaced while the Court of Inquiry investigates into the circumstances leading to the incident and identifies the guilty. The issue has been resolved amicably, the statement said. Underlining that the Army and Police are uniformed forces with discipline as their forte, General Officer emphasized that no act of indiscipline can be tolerated and no misunderstanding of any nature can be allowed to vitiate the relationship among the security forces as well as with the civil administration and the common masses (Awaam). "All the stake holders are working towards the common goal of sustaining peace in the Valley and ensuring good of the people, he added. Major General J S Cheema who presided over today's deliberations which were attended by Sayad Afadul Mustafa, DIG, Central Kashmir, Sarmad Hafiz, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shahid Mehraj, SP Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmaed Rather, CEO SDA and Sohail Ahmed, DSP Traffic. Senior Army Officer assured that a strict disciplinary action will be taken on finalization of the Court of Inquiry against the individuals found guilty in the incident. While the Police has changed the SHO, Army has replaced the personnel prima-facie found to be involved in the incident. Pertinently as a result of some misunderstanding, there was a scuffle between the local Army and Police personnel deployed at Sonamarg on May 23. As soon as the matter came to the light of Chinar Corps Headquarters, it was pro-actively taken up with the senior police officials and the local military authorities of Sonamarg were ordered to investigate the incident and Major General JS Cheema, the Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps paid a visit to HAWS, Sonamarg today. |
