Poonch, May 27: The six guest houses of Tourism Department of J&K situated along the Chandimarh area at historic Mughal Road have reduced to 'junk yard' courtesy the numb approach towards the said government infrastructure for the last three decades. According to sources many delegations have repeatedly called on official at the helms of affairs regarding to renovation of these huts but after a passage of almost 31 years, no government officials or minister had paid any attention to these six rest houses. Pertinently these guest houses were constructed in 1981 in a bid to promote tourism in the picturesque Chandimarh and its adjoining area but due the apathetic attitude of concerned department these have turned into rumble dump yards for locals. "Public Work Department (PWD) and Road and Building (R&B) Departments constructed these hutments for tourism department and as a emergency shelter for the nomads who pass through this area during their annual transition, sources said, adding, "But till date no tourist and tribal families used these huts so far. Naib Sarpanch Mohammed Fariq Charak said that government spend lakhs of rupees for constructing these huts but no one use it till date and now the conditions of these huts have become bad from worst. "These places have either become a junk yard for locals or a haven for the wild animals," sources alleged. Xen PWD R&B Poonch, brushing aside from main issue briefly said that this is not in his knowledge as he just joined the post. He however assured that he will conduct inquiry in this regard. |
