| Bijbehara primary school has three teachers, two students | | | Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, May 28: At a time when most of the government run schools are facing shortage of teachers in rural areas of the district, the education department has deployed three teachers allegedly for two students in government primary school Zirpara Bijbehara. However among the three teachers only one teacher is attending the school on regular basis while as two influential teachers continue to remain absent from their duties and loot state exchequer by drawing fat salaries with the help of district education department authorities. The primary school, established in 1963, continues to function in a rented building, locals said. They said that a local contingency paid worker (CPW) looks after the school most of the time in the absence of teaching staff. They alleged that among the three female teachers, only one attends the school on regular basis. "It is clear that two other female teachers belong to bureaucratic families due to which the authorities fail to initiate action against them." Locals added. Javid Ahmad, a local appealed Chief Education Officer Anantnag to look into the matter and investigate why parents of the area not prefer to enroll their wards in the government run schools. "It is irony that how come department has allowed this school continue to function besides how they have deployed three teachers just for two students at a time when the schools functioning in vicinity are facing shortage of teaching staff." He questioned. Sources said that the two teachers posted in this school comes from influential families and posting in township gives them comfort due to less or no roll as compared to posting in remote areas of the district were roll in single a class room exceeds to 70. Locals said that the condition of another primary school in the same area is also worse 2 teachers have been deployed for 9 students. According to Sources Chief Education Officer Anantnag had took a strong note of the decimal ratio of students in both the primary schools before couple of days and had directed ZEO Bijbehara to submit a report but till time ZEO hasn't even visited the schools. CEO Anantnag was not available for a comment. |
