Reasi, May 28: With an aim to promote fish culture in private sector, J&K Government has launched propagation of fish culture in the private sector under Rastriya Kissan Vikas Yojna (RKVY) in Reasi. The department of Fisheries has successfully launched propagation of fish culture in the private sector in Reasi under RKVY, Assistant Director Fisheries Reasi Bodh Raj said today. Already, 12 Trout and crap fish ponds have been established in the private sector to provide avenues of earnings to the unemployed youth, and 3 of them have started production, he said. Under the scheme, the beneficiaries will be provided financial assistance, which includes the cost of contraction and other equipments, of Rs 1.20 lakh for carp fish unit and Rs 2 lakh for Trout fish unit, he added. Additionally, under the National Fisheries Development Board's sponsored scheme for promotion of ornamental fisheries in private sector five beneficiaries have been identified for financial support to enable them establish ornamental fish seed backyard hatchery, he said. |
