Anantnag, June 2: Demanding compensation according to Ribbon Development Act 2007, Sarpanch affiliated with ruling National Conference today negated the claims of R&B department and denied to have encroached land along the Kullar-Charigam road. "I have approached honorable state high court which directed official respondents of the department to adopt procedure prescribed in RD Act." Village head, Mohmmad Amin Bhat of Kullar Pahalgam told EARLY TIMES. He claimed that land for the road was acquired by the department forcibly during 80's and thus department had not paid any compensation to those whose land was acquired. "If they haven't paid any compensation to the land which they acquired for this 3 kms long road then how department is calming the right of the land along the road side." He said while demanding compensation according to the Act. It is important to mention here that the said sarpanch has not allowed Power Development department to erect HT lines all along the road due to which village Charigam is reeling under darkness since from last over three months. However, the saparch said that he has no predicament if R&B department compensates him and others whose land has been acquired for the road. "Right now I will not allow HT lines to pass over my land, yes surley I will if the department compensates me and other villagers." He said. Earlier R&B department had claimed that Sarpanch had encroached land and raised structures over it illegally. Interestingly the department has served many demolitions notices to him. Meanwhile, Villagers of Chairgam have appealed R&B department officials to put the facts before the public without any delay. |
