| Poor disposal of cases: 90 still under investigation since three years | | | K Koushal Jammu, June 2: Within the voices of accountability and to tirade against corruption, the slow disposing of cases entrusted to the Crime Branch (CB) Jammu for probe seems to be an indicator of happening in a different colours as atleast 90 cases still are lying pending for the last three years. According to sources the investigations by the CB have been undermined because the branch faces a severe shortage of manpower primarily and some other reasons. For inept the Crime Branch is a key investigation agency to probe hard crime cases and has various wings to deal with separate crimes such as land grabbing, cyber crime, video piracy, face job rackets and bank/financial frauds and etc. Sources said that each wing has cases pending for disposal while more and more cases are pouring in for the department by the police authorities and petitioners who approach the department's grievance cell further piling up the cases for the department. "With the crime graph rising, the disposal of Crime cases is very poor in Jammu district as there are 90 cases awaiting disposal including 21 those cases which are transferred from other police stations to Crime Branch Jammu hoping fastest disposal, sources said. As per details available in the website of Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir, around 20 case are under investigation for the year 2010, 16 of 2011 and 33 for the year 2012. While there 14 cases are under investigations which were transferred to crime branch Jammu during the year 2010-11, 6 transferred in the year 2012 and one in the year 2013. |
