Agencies NEW DELHI, June 2: Violating the official norms, the employees of Air India have occupied official accommodation even though they already have private houses registered in their names, reported the Mail Today. The report published in the Mail Today claimed that more than 150 officials have one or more private residence in New Delhi and holding a official home in such a case is clear violation of official norms. These officials received a deadline of vacating the homes in a time period of one month when the management of AI issues an order regarding the same on February 7. The employees didn't comply with the notice and the flats of Vasant Vihar are still occupied by them. The top officials in the list of offenders include Pawan Sharma (senior manager), R. Raju (Technician), Anand Toppo (Manager-commercial and general secretary, officer association) along with many others. All these employees have been named as offenders because they own a house or two in Delhi or Gurgaon. It is alleged that these officials rent their own houses to live in the posh official flats. High standard living is not the only perk that these officials get, it must be noted that the flats are allotted on much lower rates than the market price value. If it's a A-1 flat, then the market price as of 2011 had been Rs 7,900 but the employees had to pay Rs 1,500 only. Same goes for flats in other categories such as A, B, C, D as the original rental price value is Rs 12,600, Rs 16,894, Rs 20,815 and Rs 43,125 respectively whereas the officials get to pay Rs 2,500, Rs 3,500, Rs 5000 and Rs 7,000 only. It was clearly mentioned in the notice issued in January that the employees are required to vacate the flats but somehow they have managed to continue to their stay without any legal action taken against them. "Every officer has to submit his property declaration every year. There is no escaped route. The management knows well who owns what. But the offenders are protected and taken care of," alleged an official as quoted by Mail Today. |
