PHE workers stage protest at BC Road complex

Jammu, June 2: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association members held protest demonstration at City Division, B C Road here today projecting burning issues of the PHE workers.
State president Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and provincial president of WWEA, Shiv Kumar Sharma while addressing the water works employees highlighted the problems of daily rated, CP and consolidated workers and sought early redressal of long pending demands.
Shiv Kumar and other speakers expressed their deep anguish and concern over the callous and dilly-dallying attitude of the officers of PHE with regard to resolving pending issues of the workers. He said that despite repeated pleas and reminders, the authorities have shown a lukewarm response to the genuine demands of the employees and workers of the department.
He also urged that the time bound promotion /quasi permanent orders be issued in favour of eligible employees on due date and time and the entries of the same in the service books of the concerned may be authenticated regularly.
Other demands highlighted included Regularization of all daily/wager/consolidated workers, Conversion of CP workers as daily wagers, Release of pending wages of daily wagers, Convene DPC meeting of all cadres, Repairs of damaged property of department, Release of 10% DA due since January -2014, Enhancement of minimum wages limit, Providing of identity proof to all the field staff and CP workers and Issue tool/plants articles and etc.
INTUC -J&K President Shiv Kumar Sharma welcomed the move of state Govt to increase retirement age of the state employees and also the qualifying age for jobs and urged preference to already engaged daily wagers over the freshers in appointments. Prominent trade unionists who addressed the protestors included Vinod Kumar, Raman Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Madan Lai, Radhay Sham, Mangal Dass, Jadish Singh, Joginder Pal, Subash Chander and others.
