| Chhamb Displaced persons discuss their long pending 'issues' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 2: Chhamb Displaced Persons Association of 1965 and 1971, (Camp and non camp) held its meeting here today under the chairmanship of S R Nagial the president of association to discuss the pending problems/demands of the Chaamb Displaced Persons of 1965/1971 and hailed the reported new development in favour of the displaced community. During the meeting members discussed the problems of camp & non camp displaced persons especially in the light of latest news item appeared in a local daily dtd 2, June, 2014 stating that the centre Govt, is set to make major announcements for west Pakistan, Pok and Chhamb Displaced person of 1965/1971. Secondly, another news item stated 'Govt, is ready to put the ball in centers court by forwarding draft package worth Rs. 7000 crores for approval' and Central Govt, has directed the intelligence agencies to conduct detail survey on number or refugees living in Jammu region. Deliberating upon the issues in these latest developments, the chairperson, Mr Nagial welcomed the initiative if at all being taken by the Newly formed Govt at the centre for with the people have voted inlarge number and now it is the responsibility of the Govt to do the needful for solving the long pending problems/demands of the Chaamb Displaced persons alongwith other refugee groups. Speakers further said that it is rather surprised that why the central Govt, wants to get the survey done at this stage when all the details are already submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi through various memoranda and report of the Wadhwa Committee as well as the nodal officer for the DP's of 1965/1971. Nagial further asserted if any discrimination is done to the Chaamb Displace persons, of 1965/1971 who are rehabilitated on the border belt of District Jammu, Samba and Kathua, the Displaced persons will launch a strong agitation for their rights. It was unanimously resolved that the Govt of India should announce the one time settlement package before the state assembly elections.
