Benia of J&K Police wins Udhampur-Kawa dangal

JAMMU, June 13: Wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police clinched the sixth Udhampur- Kawa Kesari dangal title outplaying Hari Krishan (Choota Khalli) of Rohtak in Haryana in the main bout that took place at Government High School Kawa in Udhampur. Dangal was organized by Kawa Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha. Winner of the main bout, Benia awarded handsome cash prize of Rs 26,000 chief guest, Balwant Singh Mankotia (MLA) and guest of honour, SP Udhampur, Khalil Poswal. Runners-up, Hari Krishan got Rs 25,000 as prize money from Shiv Kumar and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha. Among others present were retired Colonel Yaswant Singh Slathia, district horticulture officer, Virender Kumar Sharma and DySP Kamal Sharma as also Sarpanch Shabir Ahmed. In all, 42 bouts were played in this day-long dangal. The second main bout won by Vinod of Khanna who defeated Nisar Ahmed of Doda and Ajay of Khanna defeated Sandeep of Sonipat to claim third bout. Fourth bout went to Ajay Kumar Sharma of Lodan Power House Udhampur beating Parveen of Khanna. Members and technical officials who helped for conduct of this wrestling event included Durga Dass Padha, Madan Lal Mansotra, Sat Paul Sharma, Gurmeet Singh, Raj Mohd, Rajinder Singh Katoch, Yov Raj Singh Katoch, Ramesh Mansotra, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Raj Kishore, Subash Chander, Tulinder Kumar, Vijay Singh (Bijju), Lachman Singh Katoch, Mohd. Fareed, Murli Dhar (Munna), Om Parkash Verma, Muneer Kahan, Amar Singh, Lochan Singh and Vireder Kumar Sharma. Other Results: Labbu of Delhi beat Javed Khan of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu; Jasvir of Phagwara beat Dinu of Domana Akhara; Amir Khan of Nargada beat Rajan of Banaras; Lallu of Jammu beat Romesh of Banaras; Sat Paul of Sonipat beat Akram of Jammu; Parveen of Delhi beat Bagga of Mallerkotla. Bout between Teg Ali of Mallerkotla and Asif of Jammu ended in a draw.
India bids for World School Games: Ashok Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 13: The School Games Federation of India (SGFI) has put forth a proposal to the International School Federation (ISF) for hosting World School Games in four disciplines of Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics and Basketball. The proposal was submitted by the SGFI delegation, represented by senior vice-president, Ashok Kumar during the General Assembly of ISF that took place at France recently. "We have put forth our bid to host the World School Games in four different disciplines of Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics and Basketball for consideration and acceptance of the ISF. These events are proposed to be hosted by India during 2016-17 and 20-17-18," informed Ashok Kumar on his returned. Presently holding the charge of Director Sports with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Ashok Kumar superannuated as Deputy Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K. Meanwhile, the ISF General Assembly also elected the new body with Laurent Petrynka and Jan Coolen as president and general secretary respectively. Sanchez Led William was named treasurer of the ISF. The Assembly also elected vice presidents for the continents of Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
Volleyball tournament organized in DPL Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13: To boost the sports related activities, a Volleyball match was organized by Jammu Police in District Police Line, Jammu. Total four teams participated in the tournament and the final match was organized between Jammu Police VS CRPF, which was won by CRPF. It is pertinent to mention that series of events were organized by Jammu Police on the occasion of Police Raising Day which include “Shabeel” on 12.06.2014, in which thousands of the persons offered cold water in DPL Jammu. Chief guest on the occasion was Atul Goel, SSP Jammu and among others, SP Hqrs. Jammu (S. Randheer Singh) and Dy. SP DAR DPL Jammu Rajinder Singh, was also present on the occasion.
10 days long summer camp concluded at I-learn Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13: Ten days long summer camp organized by I-learn, an institute that specializes in French and English language, concluded here today. I-learn Summer Camp offered various opportunities for campers to become fully immersed in a collaborative, supportive and incredibly fun artistic community. Artistic disciplines were taught and explored through self-expression, awareness and teamwork, creating an engaging, safe, and rewarding summer environment for both students and staff alike. Campers were assigned to small groups with participants of their own age, and they all attended daily classes in spoken English, , paper quilling, best out of waste, no flame cooking and an alternating nail art and a special class for pottery making. Main focus was given on the first aid Smile workshop headed by Dr. Rajesh Ahal (pediatric dentist), who helped the campers to maintain better oral health while keeping it affordable.
'Run for Fun' Marathon race organized in Nowshera Early Times Report
Nowshera, June 13th : District Police Rajouri organized 'Run for Fun' Marathon race in Nowshera town today , on celebration of Police Rising Day having distance of 4 Kms from bus stand Nowshera to Hanjana Bridge. The race has been divided into three categories viz senior citizens, youngsters and kids. A large number of participants took part in the race and the best performers in each category were provided with a trophy, besides, refreshment to all participants, the motive behind organizing the event was to bring improvement in Police public relation, awareness among the public regarding disadvantages of drug and alcohol, taking part in social activities and helping poor and needy persons, curbing menace of corruption etc. and to bring transparency in every spare of life. The participants were also advised to co-operate police in maintaining law and order, prevention and detection of crime. The winners in senior citizen was Dev Raj Gumbal, in youngsters was Ajay Damral and in kid category was Mohit Damral. The participants also appreciated the role of Police for organizing such events and creating awareness among youth and un-employed. The event was organized under the supervision of Addl. SEE Katra organized 'Dancing Star- Katra' a talent hunt prog

Jammu, June 13: Shree Entertainers & Events (SEE) Katra, a renowned event management company of District Reasi, is going to organize a Fresh Edition of Dancing Star-Katra 2014, Season III, at Spiritual Growth Center, Auditorium Katra. The aim and objective of the event is to offer platform for young kids of Katra to showcase their talent. The competition was adjudged by a panel of Shashi Gupta, choreographer of Geetiyan a Dogri movie and Sanjay Batra (Dance teacher DPS). The panel adjudged the performance of the participants and declared Mehak Sharma, Raghav Pujari and Monika Goswami as top three winners respectively. Shashi Gupta told the participants to dance naturally and elegantly without any faking or copying. State Speedball Championship 2014 Concludes in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, June 13: The first of its kind in Kashmir, State Level Speedball Championship organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Ganderbal supported by Jammu and Kashmir Speedball Association, concluded today at Ganderbal. The championship was held in boys and girls groups for U-17 and U-14 categories. About 150 Participants from 8 districts of Jammu division and 2 districts of Kashmir division took part in this 3 days long event held in College of Physical Education Ganderbal. Additional Superintendent of Police, Paramveer Singh was invited as Chief Guest and Dr. Hartej Singh, (Principal COPE) as Guest of Honour. The special invitees along with Sunny Nanda (General Secretary speedball association) distributed medals, trophies and certificates among the players and officials on the final presentation ceremony. Jammu bagged the overall championship with maximum number of gold medals, where as Ganderbal district though new to speedball, finished with runners up trophy. Speaking on the occasion, District Officer DYSS Ganderbal, Haji Noor-ul-Haque Andrabi emphasized the role of COPE and his fellow squad for the successful conduct of such event. He also appreciated participants of all the districts of the state to make the championship memorable and also thanked COPE, health department, MCG, Police and other departments for their sincere support and assured more improved facilities in coming events.
