| RAW DEAL: Fearing threat, department shuns differently able to ill-suited location | | | K Koushal
Jammu, June 13: A differently able employee working as Junior Assistant posted in the office of Tehsildar Settlement Jammu was transferred to the office of Tehsildar Basohli as he allegedly posed as an imminent threat to a nexus operating in the department on the higher levels.
Sources claim his transfer order was a scheming ploy of the higher authorities in the office of Tehsildar Settlement Jammu who wanted him out of their sinful practices.
The deployment has been ordered as per an order issued by Regional Director Survey and Land Records Jammu.
As per the order in possession of Early Times, the physically handicapped Junior Assistant posted in the office of Tehsildar Settlement Jammu was directed to office of Tehsildar Basholi on June 10.
According to sources, it is duty of the Directors of the Department to make it convenient for the physically handicapped employees to discharge their duties and as per a social activist, deployment of a differently able employee cannot be made to a location which doesn't suit him as the same has been counted as a basic rights violation under humanitarian ground.
"Most of the need basis and contractual staff recruited to assist the officers are presently serving at the homes of senior officials of the department and the same is going on clandestinely", said sources adding that the senior officers have nothing to do with the work as they just try appeasing their masters.
Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) MA Bukhari said "physically handicapped appointed on compassionate ground and time to time circulars are being issued by the government to make convenient the physically handicapped persons to discharge their duties".
He too criticized such deployment and said before ordering any such transfer; government officials should not oversee the humanitarian grounds
