| Staring at another debacle, NC still blinking over real issues | | | Shakeel A Khan SRINAGAR, June 13: The internal adjustments within the National Conference can simply be attributed to frustration of the party high command, which is very much concerned about the most likely defeat in the coming assembly elections scheduled later this year. The party top brass actually is in no mood to ascertain the actual facts that affected NC adversely. Senior party leader from South Kashmir, Dr. Mehboob Beigh openly leveled allegations against a senior minister in Omar government for considering candidates of his own choice for the post of Relationship Executives in Jammu & Kashmir Bank. Actually this issue came to fore during an election rally of National Conference in the Charar-I Sharief area of Budgam district wherein party workers complained to senior Abdullah about the irregularities made by the Minister in the selection process of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the appointment of relationship executives. Another prominent leader and the sitting minister of the National Conference siphoned off funds meant for many rural missions and made huge wealth. "Some influential persons especially the ones who are the MLAs of the ruling National Conference have taken the party hostage and have used it to fulfill their own desires, ignoring the commoners. Now the party is reaping the harvest of the wrong doings of its leaders," said Bashir Ahmad Malla from Srinagar. The people believe that these leaders are after money, no matter how it comes and for that reason they can go to any extent. Be it NREGA or NRHM, these schemes belong to these leaders who consider these as their personal properties. Some youth while sharing their ideas with Early Times said every selection list is tampered with. They said that blue eyed candidates always find their names in the lists as published from time to time without any consideration for the deserving poor lot. "The selection process, whether for the gazetted or non-gazetted posts, has lost the credibility as the ministers manage it their own way. The selection list of the relationship executives of Jammu and Kashmir Bank is a living example of the unfair means, involving people in power," said this group of youth. People believe that if the National Conference wants to regain its lost glory, then it has to act against the defaulters within the party, however tall they may be. |
