Anantnag, June 13: Risking lives of hundreds of innocent students, an unrecognized School continues to function in gas godown in the backyard in Uranhal area of Anantnag district while as the tainted officials of the department remain unmoved and continue to delay action. .
Using its delaying tactics Chief Education Officer Anantnag and Zonal Education Officer Anantnag are delaying the action against the unrecognized school whose functioning in LPG Gas godown can prove disastrous any time.
Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Ghulam Rasool had assured action on May 7 when Early Times carried the news report. However since then the CEO is using delaying tact's and is misleading media over this grave issue against which child rights activists have already shown concern.
Earlier Chief Education Officer Anantnag had told Early Times that he had given a week's time to school management for relocating the school in which they ultimately failed. Sources with Education department here in Anantnag, revealed that Chief Education Officer had today directed Zonal education Officer Anantnag to seal the school but during the school timing ZEO failed in reaching the school on time which raises couple of questions of the over the sincerity of officer in sealing the school.
Pertinent to mention here that putting precious lives of hundreds of innocent students at risk, Al Fazal Convent- a private School was functioning in the backyard of gas godown of Showket gas agency on Srinagar-Jammu National highway at Uranhal Anantnag. Ironically the distance between the gas agency's godown and school is not more than 5ft.
School reportedly established in 2005 has now given birth to number of questions over the functioning of education department as since the year department hasn't bothered about the lives of students neither as mustered courage to go tuff against the school owner, who is reportedly enjoying the patronage of top officials of the department besides of ruling party National Conference.
Chief Education officer Anantnag, when contacted today confirmed that he had directed ZEO to seal the school. "In fact I am here in Srinagar, I had directed ZEO to seal the school but I was told that no one was present in the school." CEO said, adding ZEO visiting the school in the morning at around 10:00am. Contradicting the claims of CEO, ZEO Anantnag said that he visited the school at around 12:10pm .
