| Coalition deliberately denied RBA status to migrants: KPs | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 13: There is a brewing resentment among the displaced Pandits from Valley against the Government for deliberately denying the RBA status to the community that from Valley during mass exodus of 1989-90. The Government has put the memo in Cabinet meeting which was held at Union Capital on June 11 at Srinagar for approval but due to certain differences in the coalition the decision on this crucial issue was delayed. This way the Government has deprived the members of the displaced KP families from the benefit of RBA status despite the fact that the status of migrants has lowered after their mass exodus as they lost their property as well as other source of income after being hounded out from the Valley, said Satish Pajnoo president Displaced KPs Front. But to pursue their anti Pandit policies the coalition Government in the State which claims to be most secular has once again come into its true colours, he added. He said the Pandits have lost everything including their movable and immovable property after the mass exodus in 1990. They were denied the Government jobs in the State despite the fact that over three lakh people were adjusted in various Government departments during last 25 years. He said is this not the discrimination and anti KP policies of the State Government that for casting the votes in Assembly and Lok sabha elections migrants are considered the part and parcel of Valley constituencies and while granting the displaced status it is stated that the people are not living in the particular area. He also questioned the Union Governemnt on this issue saying its weak-kneed policies over last 650 years resulted into the mass exodus of the KPs from Valley. When the community is not granted the status of RBA in Kashmir then on what Government Narendra Modi Government claims their rehabilitation in Valley, he asked? This is a genuine issue said Kundan Kashmir president KPC. The Pandits did not come out from Valley out of their sweet will and they lived open tents for over a decade in Jammu and later in concentrated camps for over another 10 years. Has their social status improved in this way, he asked? The community people are dependent on cash doles from Government as they lost their livelihood, he added. He said in comparison to that the social status of the people of Valley living in RBA areas is much better than the exiled Pandits. But for its discriminatory policies towards the community the Omar Abdullah Government is not interested in providing any succor to the community. He said the Pandits were not only hounded out from Valley by the Pak sponsored terrorists but those political parties of the Valley who ruled the State right from 1947. He said NC and other parties were only hoodwinking the community by saying that Kashmir was incomplete without KPs while the fact is that they never wanted its return. Had it not been so the NC led coalition would have never delayed the implementation of PM's employment package in last six years. |
