Fake 8th pass certificates

SRINAGAR, June 13: State Information Commission (SIC) today directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian to provide information under Right to Information Act (RTI) regarding alleged issuance of fake 8th pass certificates which have been submitted by various contingent paid workers of education department in zone Shopian for securing jobs.
As per details available, Shakila Banoo, a resident of Hergam Shopian filed an RTI application before Chief Education Officer Shopian on 08-03-2014 seeking information on 8 points regarding details of Contingent paid workers of Zone Shopian from March 2001. On not receiving any response from the PIO, the appellant filed First Appeal before First Appellate Authority (FAA) Directorate of School Education Kashmir on 31-12-2013. Appellant subsequently filed Second Appeal before the State Information Commission (SIC) on 13.05.2014 against FAA, Education Department and Public Information Officer (PIO) ie CEO Shopian. During hearing in the Commission office on June 5th the CEO Shopian submitted that information sought by the appellant was voluminous and the same has been provided to her on 02.06.2014. During the course of hearing one Mohammad Yousuf Punoo representative of the appellant admitted to have received the information. He however, pointed out that 8th pass certificates of Mohammad Ishaq Naikoo and Mohammed Altaf Zargar have not yet been provided. CEO submitted that these two persons have submitted certificates studying in class 9th. He also submitted that he has to check from the concerned ZEOs/Head Masters from where these persons have passed 8th class.
"CEO is therefore directed to locate schools where from these candidates have passed 8th class examination and provide the information to the appellant within 2 weeks from issue of this order. A compliance report in this regard be submitted to the Commission" reads the SIC order.
