| Lehar-NGO organizing seminar today | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jun 13: A seminar on 'Kashmir youths, anxieties and aspirations' being organized by Lehar, a non-political NGO is going to be held on Jun 14 at Hotel Grand Mumtaz. As per press release, eminent economist Dr Haseeb Drabu, Prof Saddiq Wahid, Prof Gull Wani and leading social activist Shakeel Qalandar will be the prominent speakers on the occasion. Dr Drabu will deliver the keynote address at the seminar, and Prof Wahid will preside over it. Students of Kashmir University and other colleges in the city and the adjoining areas will participate in the seminar. Director Lehar Rajni Shaleen Chopra said that the purpose of the seminar is to provide an opportunity to the Kashmir youth to talk about their anxieties and aspirations, and have a dynamic discussion on the subject with some of the leading minds of the valley. Qalandar said that it is logical for any society which has gone through turmoil to think about the aspirations and anxieties of its youth, who have remained at the forefront of its numerous struggles. Youth and their legitimate grievances are a subject matter of debate for policy makers and political leaders not only in Kashmir but in the entire south Asia. We cannot imagine a better South Asia without thinking seriously about youth and their position in the polity, economy and society, said Qalandar. |
