Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 13: Legal metrology department today directed people involved in business of medical and surgical goods to provide mandatory declarations at the time of sale of such articles. In a statement, a spokesman of the department said that field executives of department under the supervision of Joint Controller Kashmir, Ahsan Ali Khan carried out surprise inspection of medical shops engaged in selling the imported medical devices/ surgical goods at Jawahar Nagar, Barzulla, Batmaloo, Karan Nagar, Zaina Kadal, Nowshera, Soura and Bhohlochi Pora. "During the inspection a large quantity of imported goods was seized and detained for not carrying the mandatory declaration of MRP. Medical devices like Blood Pressure Gauge, person's weighing balances, Fetal Dropler, Silicon Vacuum Pump, hot electric water bottles and stethoscopes etc were seized," said the spokesman. The spokesman said that surgical goods like Thermal paper rolls, silicon foot soles, fluids, ECG Jellies used for ultra-sound, splints and osteoplasts were also seized. The erring shop-keepers were directed to produce the invoices to fix the responsibilities. He said surgical devices like pace-makers, titanium plates, silicon papers, eye-lenses, chest-tubes, Meshes and Sutures are covered under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 and must carry all the mandatory declarations. |
