Learning driving in MAM Stadium endangers sportsmen

Jammu, June 18: Two weeks after the barriers were erected to prevent entry of vehicles in MAM stadium, the sports area craves for survival s vehicles have appeared again following removal of barriers.
Some of the locals can be seen learning driving in the areas outside the Indoor stadia where players used to do warm up exercises and jogging. There is a great risk of injury by the fast moving vehicles but the sports authorities are still unmoved.
Formely, the sports authorities had erected barriers to prevent entry of such people into the area after taking Cognizance of a story published in Early Times on May 29. But barriers have been removed now for unknown reasons and the area craves for survival.
Parent of a sportsman, Pankaj shared his views with Early Times, "Driving should be avoided in the stadium as there is a great risk to the children being hit." He added the Club members used to park their vehicles by the sides of road that leads to the overcrowding making it risky for the children and joggers as the learning drivers having lesser skills drive in the same area." He urged the authorities top re-implant the barriers for the safety of the sportsmen. "learning driving in the area should be banned," he demanded.
Dileep Thusoo, (Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council) when contacted said that he is out of station for the Football tournament that is going on in Srinagar and all this matter is out of his knowledge. "As soon as I reach Jammu, I will check it out and implant the barriers again to prevent such entries in the area", he added.
Moreover, Sports officer Rajan Sharma when contacted said that admonishing gatekeepers, Jammu club Authorities once again debarred the entry of vehicles by removing the barriers Implanted by the Sports authorities.
