Srinagar, June 18: To prevent re-occurrence of 2008, 2009 and 2010 like uprisings in Kashmir, authorities have charged sixth consecutive Public Safety Act (PSA) on noted separatist leader, Masrat Alam Bhat.
The leaders of 'Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League' of which Masrat Alam is the president while informing media persons today said that "Authorities have slapped another PSA on Masrat Alam Bhat and while distributing the grounds of detention, the leaders alleged that authorities are manufacturing false cases against Masrat Alam only to prolong his detention. Masarat a key figure in organizing 2010 uprising was released last week from jail after four years, but he was arrested again and lodged in Shaheed Gunj Police station in Srinagar.
According to a government order as many as 15 criminal cases stand registered against Masrat Alam in various police stations allegedly for indulging in violence. The government order while terming Masrat Alam's free movement a great threat to security reads that 'though you (Masrat Alam) are presently under custody, there is a likelihood of your being admitted to bail and in case you get released at this point of time there is a well found apprehension that you will again indulge in anti-national and secessionist activities. In order to prevent recurrence of the circumstances of 2008, 2009 and 2010 your detention has become imperative."
The government order also claims that Masrat Alam joined hardliner group of Separatists and within a short span of time achieved high position.
The order further reads that 'In order to create the disturbed circumstances the amalgam has been using every excuse to create a law and order problem. Be it the transfer of land to SASB in 2008, drowning of two women in Shopian in 2009 or the death of teenager in Srinagar in 2010, the amalgam (Hurriyat G) including you (Masrat Alam) have been exploiting the public anger in a way as to create large scale law and order problem.' According to details during 2010 uprising in Kashmir in which arround110 youth were killed allegedly at the hands of security forces, Masarat went underground and issued effective protest calendars one after another to keep alive the uprising.
However Masrat was later arrested on October 18, 2010 from Harvan area of Srinagar and sent to District Jail of Baramullah. Pertinently since 2010 five PSA's were charged on Masrat Alam allegedly for indulging in violence related incidents.
The separatist leader according to details is considered a popular figure among youth who support Hardliner Separatist faction of Syed Ali Geelani also and his protest calenders which he issued during 2010 uprising in Kashmir were termed more effective by many sections of society then.
