Scholars anguished over authorities' arbitrary cut out
Only toppers of 2012-13 session to get degrees from Prez

Jammu, Aug 12: Resentment is brewing among a large number of gold-medalists/scholars of Jammu University who may not get their degrees from President of India during 13th convocation, which is scheduled to be held in the month of September due to his busy scheduled.
"We are not happy with JU authorities, decision that only scholars who had completed their MA, Mphil and Phd degrees during session of April 2012- March 2013 shall get their degrees from the President", said an scholar who had done Mphil in year 2011. He said that a large number of students were being deprived of life time opportunity.
"Anger is brewing among the toppers, who secured gold medals in different streams after the last convocation, which was held in Jammu University on May 13, 2007", he said, adding that the students whose had done their MA, PhD before April 2012 on Tuesday took up the matter with Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Porf MPS Ishar. "The scholars told the VC that they too wanted to receive their degrees from the President", told a scholar. "We have registered our anger before VC, I am not a the only one who is being deprived of the opportunity, there are a large number of scholar who were not being called in convocation to get their degrees from President", said a gold medalist scholar from department of political sciences.
" Many of us see it as a lifetime opportunity to receive the degrees from the President of India Pranab Mukherjee", he said, adding that when the university authorities announced the date of convocation he was very excited and submitted his document like mark sheet and demand draft of four hundred thirty rupees as demanded by the JU. "Yesterday when VC informed the syndicate that only those students who had completed their degrees in session 2012 -13 would be conferred degrees by the Chief Guest. It was injustice with all candidates who have completed their degree before the mentioned time", he maintained. When contacted to Prof MPS Isher, said there was no resentment among the scholars. "Some students met me today regarding convocation during the meeting I assured them that another program will he held soon to honor them", the VC said.
