| Mother, son among three killed in Jammu | | | | Jammu, Aug 12: A woman and her son among three people were killed and two got injured in separate road accidents across Jammu region, police said. The deceased were identified as Shamila Begum, 65, wife of Mohammad Shafi, resident of Bathri and her son Abdul Wahid, police spokesperson said. "An ill-fated vehicle JK02AM-2905 was on its way from Kahra to Thathri when the driver of the van lost his control due to which it rolled down into the river Chenab this afternoon near Machipal resulting in on the spot death of two persons in Kishtwar district," police spokesman here said. The spokesman added that after receiving the information about the accident, Police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. "The body of the female has been recovered while the search of her son was in progress," he added. Meanwhile in another accident one motorcyclist was crushed to death and two pillion riders suffered injuries when an Army vehicle hit the two-wheeler near new bus stand this afternoon in Samba district. Police spokesperson said that the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Singh, s/o Joga Singh of Makteshar, Punjab while the injured as Amandeep Singh and Joginder Singh. |
