Jammu, Aug 12: A bank manager and his teacher wife were today booked by Janipur police for duping lakhs of rupees from people on the pretext of providing job in J&K bank. The couple was booked under section 120b,167,420,467,468,471,472 ,473 RPC against FIR No 153/2014, on the direction of court. The complaint in this connection was filed by one Surinder Gupta, lawyer by profession, in which he has alleged that one Rajesh Sharma, manager in J&K bank, his wife namely Priyanka Khajuria who is a teacher in government school, took Rs 4.50 lakh from him on the pretext of providing job to his wife in Jammu and Kashmir bank . Earlier, the bank manager, took Rs 50,000 from him in advance. After few days, he and his wife came to the victim's residence with the order of appointment of his wife on the designation of cashier cum clerk in the bank and took rest of the money from him. After few days when the bank manager did not respond to the phone calls, the lawyer got suspicious and he took the order to the J&K bank head office in Bahu Plaza where he was told that the appointment order was fake. The bank officials told him that no such order has been issued by the bank authorities. He narrated the incident to his other companions namely Kovid Khosla, Rajesh Kohli ex district session judge and lawyer G.S Mankotia who filed case in the court. Based on the plea, the court directed Janipur police under section 156 CrPC to register a case in this connection and hold inquiry. Meanwhile, Janipur police said that a case in this connection has been registered, adding inquiry is in progress. |
