| Govt claims on Migrants return belied | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12:Notwithstanding government claims of taking Kashmiri Pandits back to Valley, the Government has so far failed to provide the basic facilities to the migrant employees appointed under PM’s employment package over two years back. Over 1400 employees out of 6000 employees to be appointed under PM’s employment package were appointed two years back and adjusted in different parts of Kashmir Valley. But unfortunately these employees were deprived of all the basic facilities as promised by the Government. According to sources the main problem being faced is lack of accommodation and at various places five to six employees have been accommodated in a single set where two employees have to share a single room. Sources said, worse position is at Matan where in 30 sets about 200 migrant employees have been accommodated. These employees also face water scarcity and other other basic amenities in these quarters. Sources said, in Vesu migrant quarters over 40 employees are without accommodation and about 500 employees putting up there are facing acute water scarcity besides there is also in-sanitation in these quarters. Same problems are being faced by the migrant employees putting up at Hall Pulwama quarters, Heewan Baramulla and Kupwara. Moreover the Government has failed to fulfil the other commitment made with these employees during the time of their appointment which has been a cause of concern for these employees. The Government has failed to implement the PM's package in letter and spirit as out of 6000 posts only 1400 posts were filled up while remaining posts have not been filled up even after a gap of 6 years. Sources said that out of 6000 posts 3000 posts were to be born by State Government while other 3000 by Central Government. While Central Government provided funds for 3000 posts and employment process on same was started, the State Government has delayed process for remaining 3000 posts on the pretext of paucity of funds. |
