Enquiry reveals mob burnt 37 houses, cattle following sacrilegious act

Batote, Aug 12: As many as 37 Dhoks ,52 lambs,23 goats, a buffalo and three pet dogs of the nomads were set on fire by a mob during arson on July 29 morning following the alleged sacrilegious act at Shivgarh Dhaar near Patnitop, an enquiry report maintained.
According to the reliable sources, an enquiry conducted by a team headed by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Batote , Saifullah Shah and consisting of police and Forest Department officials accompanied by Jagdish Chand and Mohinder Singh, the Sarpanch and Nambardar of the area has reported in its report that a mob of about 200 to 250 local villagers infuriated over the overnight sacrilegious act allegedly by the two nomads, had torched as many as 37 Dhoks (kacha/mud summer huts on higher meadows) and charred to death 52 lambs, 23 goats, a buffalo and 3 pet dogs before ransacking and looting 5 Dhoks.
The sources said that 15 sheep, 5 goats and 2 buffaloes are still missing and 3 buffaloes were injured. Although none of the accused for damaging this property of the nomads has so far been identified yet a legal action is expected soon on the basis of this enquiry report, the sources revealed.
The sacrilegious act on July 28 evening at Daar Shivgarh had triggered the massive protest demonstrations and bandh at Patnitop, Batote, Kud ,Chenani and Udhampur resulting into the blocking of the NH44 for about six hours on July 29. When contacted the DC, Ramban, RA Inqlabi said that an FIR has been registered in the case of arson and the law will take its own course on the basis of the enquiry.
