| DH Rajouri staff observes strike against manhandling of Supdt Hospital | | | Rajouri, Aug 12: District Hospital Rajouri employees today went on pen down strike in protest against alleged assault on the Medical Superintendent and ransacking of his office by the attendants/family members of a Cancer patient on Monday. Amid sloganeering the protesting health employees were demanding an immediate action against the trouble makers and restoration of Police Post at Distract Hospital which was removed after a verbal dispute between hospital staff and some policemen. The strike organised by Hospital Employees Association , headed by Mohd Farooq was also joined by the doctors. Pertinently following a tiff over alleged delay in providing ambulance to a cancer patient, the irked family members and some locals went on rampage and ransacked the office of the Medical superintendent as well as manhandled him reportedly. Const Shamsheer Hussain was declared at terminal stage by the doctors at AIMS and at Chandigarh but was admitted on humanitarian grounds in District Hospital at Rajouri and was discharged on the request of family members after his condition started deteriorating on Monday. The family members alleged that they were asked to foot the patrol bill of the ambulance that enraged them while hospital authorities claimed that the patient was provided ambulance, oxygen cylinder and other facilities but they refused and wanted to go in police vehicle. Dr Rajiv Sharma, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Shiv Kumar Chohan, ASP rushed to district hospital and had a detailed discussion with the striking employees and doctors. Both the officers were informed that action must be taken at earliest against the trouble makers and restitution of police post at district hospital which was removed last month over a dispute between hospital staff and policemen. Pacifying to the protestors, Shiv Kumar, ASP assured the employees that police has registrar a case against the trouble creators and soon an action will be taken against them. He also assured that soon the police post will be reestablished under the overall control of Medical Superintendent. After assurances by the ASP, the protesting employees resumed usual work at about 10 am on condition if the action is not taken within next few days they will resume their stir. |
