| JKPAAA continues agitation, demands regularization | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 12: Polytechnic Contractual lecturers under the banner of All Jammu & Kashmir Polytechnic Academic Arrangements Association (JKPAAA) intensified their agitation in both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions for the fourth day respectively for their regularization of services. In Kashmir Division the lecturers were forced to observe fast unto death at Lal Chowk where one lecturer fainted and was administered glucose drips by the doctors. Shah Nawaz Qadir while speaking to the media said that taking the cognisance of the incident Minister for Technical Education Vikar Rasool invited the leaders of the Association for a meeting where he assured them that very soon the Govt would convene a meeting of bureaucrats and Principals to discuss and contemplate the steps for framing the regulasitaion policy. Shah Nawaz asserted that more than 80 percent staff working in the various polytechnics all across the state have been appointed as contractual lecturers on Academic Arrangement who have been rendering their services with honesty and diligence for a meagre honorarium. Meanwhile in Jammu,the protesting lecturers "gheraoed" the Director Technical Education and vociferously raised the slogans to frame a policy for their regularisation and instead of addressing the grievances of the teaching fraternity sitting under the scorching heat he only managed to sneak into his office and remained there for hours. |
