42000 devotees pay obeisance at Chandi temple Machail till date
Machail Yatra 2014, Charri Mubarak reaches Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Aug 18: More than 20000 devotees participated in today's annual Charri Yatra of Matta Chandi at Kishtwar after they arrived from Chinote Bhaderwah under tight security cover.
The yatra which started from Chinote Bhaderwah arrived at Kishtwar at around 6 PM on Monday evening and was welcomed by the people of Kishtwar right from Shalimar up to Girls Higher Secondary school Kishtwar, where the Charri Mubarak will be kept for the Darshan till Tuesday morning before it will left for Gulabgard at around 10 AM tomorrow itself. As many as 10000 people from different parts of the state, in addition 20000 local from adjoining areas also reach Kishtwar for onwards journey to Machail for seeking the blessings of Matta Chandi. Various school building, parks and temples were thrown open for the devotees for night stay; beside this the locals also adjusted the visiting pilgrims in their own house as a good will gesture. Free Langer has also been arranged for the pilgrims at many place and the main langer arrangement were held at Girl Higher secondary School Kishtwar and as many as 5000 yatries had his dinner at this Langer alone. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan, ADC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik, DIG Doda-Kishtwar Range Ashkoor Wani, SSP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal, ACR Kishtwar Sudarshan Salaria are personally supervising the arrangements for Yatries , ASP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, SDPO Kishtwar Nazir Ahmed Ganie, SDPO Atholi, SHO Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani and other officials of District Administration Kishtwar also remain present during Chari Yatra. Keeping in view of security threat, over 2500 security personal were deployed all along 180 KM long route from Bhaderwah to Machail, mostly from Kishtwar to Machail temple.
Meanwhile the heavy rush of pilgrims has also been witnessed at Machail temple and as many as 42000 pilgrims had so far paid obeisance at the shrine of Matta Chandi at Machail since the yatra has been official declared open for the pilgrims. Several pilgrims who return after paying obeisance at the temple complaint that some people charge them Rs. 500/bed for one night and even provide them the food items at higher rates than the printed rates. One of the pilgrim complaints that he paid Rs. 40 for one Parantha and Rs.25 for Maggi pack. Yatries hoped that the government will construct some dormitories at different location enroute to temple so that the pilgrims visiting the temple did not feel any problem of accommodation in future. Many pilgrims also lambasted the administration on account of lack of facilities available enroute up to Machail temple. The pilgrims said that mismanagement of traffic police, civil police, administration, hotel owners, PHE and other department assigned with the job of making arrangements for pilgrims are clearly seen visible on ground and said that no arrangements has been made in reality that are beneficial to the pilgrims. They demanded for reassessing of arrangements for the yatra before it concludes in weeks time. It worth to mention here that this year the remarkable strength of Yatries belong to other states of country were seen, and some foreign tourists were also seen in the yatra who were enjoying the religious functions. The political leaders were also waiting for a long time to cause their presence and greet the people on the eve of Machail yatra. The majority community peoples / leaders have also accorded the welcome to yatra which enshrines the communal harmony and brotherhood that has received a major dent due to last year August 9, Kishtwar communal violence.
