Kathua, Aug 18: MoS Science & Technology (Independent Charge), Earth Sciences (Independent Charge), Prime Minister Office, Personal Grievances, Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Dr Jitendra Singh Rana inaugurated three-day J&K Aroma Festival-2014 organised by CSIR Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine at Town Hall Kathua, on Sunday. After inaugurating the festival, Dr Jitendra Singh took round of the stall represented by stakeholders, which included farmers, entrepreneurs and industrialists. The focus of seminar was the development of micro, small and medium enterprises in the area of cultivation and value addition of medicinal and aromatic plants including development of, botanical drugs, perfumery products and food supplements. While welcoming the participants, the Dr Jitendra Singh that there is a great need to revitalize the micro, small and medium enterprises sector, laying special thrust on promotion of start-ups. However, to achieve success in this regard, there is a dire need of technological backup to promote innovation, entrepreneurship development. "One of the most important sectors where CSIR- Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine can effectively contribute in the development of micro, small and medium enterprises in India in general and Jammu & Kashmir state in particular is the cultivation, utilization and value addition of medicinal and aromatic plants", Dr Jitendra said. |
