| Finally, the war of words start in JKCA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: As usual, the war of words has begun in the 'notorious' Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) with sports body's life president, Dr Farooq Abdullah continues to play a dubious character of `divide and rule'. Likewise on previous occasions, the relationship between JKCA central body and Jammu wing has gone sore. And, now the differences of opinion have taken the shape of a full-fledged war between top office bearers, especially, general secretary, ML Nehru and those joint secretary, Sudershan Mehta and vice chairman, Rakesh Kumar of Jammu wing,. However, to crush the protest lodged by the Jammu wing in regard to funds for conducting the activity as also to take revenge of latter's attempts to take secretary of the Association to the court of law, recently, the JKCA central body has decided to hijack the entire wing level activity. Though there were hardly any activity planned at the wing level to develop the spirit of competition among the boys by way of holding matches on professional lines, still the office bearers were in need of money to carry out the routine job of holding trials and camps prior to the to the final selection at the state level. Challenging the existence of the Jammu wing, the central body of the JKCA has virtually hijacked the selection process by making an announcement of holding of trials-cum-fitness camps in Srinagar that too without taking into confidence the elected body. Now, left with no other option, the hapless Jammu wing has written a strong worded letter to the Association president, Farooq Abdullah conveying their 'complete disassociation' with the ongoing activities. The letter also cautioned the president about the consequences of the actions on part of the central body. Meanwhile, in a handout issued here today, general secretary, ML Nehru has justified his action of taking Ranji and Under-23 probable form Jammu to Srinagar for the camps. He said, "By holding joint fitness camps and related activities at Srinagar, boys from Jammu are sure to gain more in terms of developing their technical skills. Moreover, infrastructure at Jammu has further deteriorated and has been found improper to hold any activity at the senior level. In addition, the JKCA is in the process to engage an international coach for the state cricketers." The chairman, JKCA, Amrinder Singh Micky also informed that the central body has got the approval of Association president, Farooq Abdullah with regard to shifting of camps to Srinagar. "We have got the approval of the JKCA president, Farooq Abdullah regarding shifting of Ranji and Under-23 camps to Srinagar. To make the activity a success, we have engaged senior state cricketers of repute in raise competitive teams from the state for the season ahead," said the JKCA chairman. |
