Justice Kumar hands over relief, releases Rs 10,000 each to flood hit advocates

Jammu, Oct 2: Expressing solidarity with flood affected people in Valley and under goodwill gesture, Justice M M Kumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on behalf of state judiciary today handed over a large quantity of relief items including items warm clothing, eatables and other consumable items to the J&K Yateem Trust Srinagar through its Member Z A Tak. Meanwhile he also released Rs 10,000/- each to 123 flood affected advocates hailing from valley
According to press statement issued here today, the relief material was received from Chandigarh on the initiative of the Chief Justice. Chief Justice M M Kumar handed over a truck load of consumables items and clothing etc to the J&K Yateem Trust at Tatto Ground Srinagar, at Makeshift High Court Building Srinagar. "The huge consignment of relief material was received from neighboring Chandigarh and Punjab State on the initiative of Justice M M Kumar, it added. Earlier Chief Justice Kumar has already handed over two truckloads of relief material to concerned administration for its distribution in flood affected people in Srinagar, apart from this two truckloads of relief was also sent to Rajouri and Poonch Districts for its due distribution among the affected lot.
Besides the Chief Justice has also taken initiatives to distribute the relief material to the employees of the High Court and even some Advocates whose houses were badly affected by the floods.
The statement said, "Justice M M Kumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered release of Rs Ten thousand each to 123 flood affected Advocates of Srinagar on the request of High Court Bar Association Srinagar. "On a formal request by the Office Bearers of the High Court Bar Association Srinagar in this regard, Chief Justice Kumar has directed payment of Rs 10,000/- each out of the Lawyers Welfare Fund, it added.
