| CM has no concern for north, south Kashmir, focusing only on Srinagar city | | | Shakeel A Khan SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seemingly has no concerns for the North and South Kashmir which were equally destroyed by the flood fury. Because of the alleged vote bank politics, he is trying his level best to make his presence felt in the summer capital of the state. One fails to understand as to why he one day labels the youth of the down town Srinagar as anti-nationals and what makes him to project them as the real heroes of the Valley. Going by the pre-flood statements of Omar and his father, both openly criticised the youth of the city, particularly of the downtown. "Youth from our area also did a commendable job by saving the lives of thousands of people who were trapped in the flood water but they are neither in the news nor has the Chief Minister spoken a single word in their praise. These are the pleasing tactics by means of which Omar Saheb wants to give some consideration to Srinagar city," said Bashir Ahmad of Baramulla. Bashir said that Omar Saheb would have never heaped praises on the youth of the downtown. What actually made Omar to do so is that these youth did the job of the Government and it was due to their heroics that thousands of lives could be saved. The people of the North and South Kashmir have serious grievances against the Chief Minister because the coalition Government headed by him has miserably failed to highlight the sufferings of the people of these two areas which the flood has brought to them. The people of these areas blame that the head of the state has no idea whatsoever about the level of destruction caused to them by the floods. "In the beginning, it was South Kashmir and at the end it was North Kashmir which were marooned by the floods. Both the areas suffered immensely but the Government seems to be bothered about the city only. It is in no way a fair deal for the people of these areas," said visibly upset Gulzar Ahmad, a businessman from Pulwama district. Gulzar said the Government is for all the people and its emotions must be same for the people of all areas, irrespective of caste, creed and colour. For Gulzar, there are many more beautiful areas than Rajbagh in the Valley which have received a thrashing from the nature and all people irrespective of their status, need to be uplifted using the same measuring rod. |
