Stop testing Indian Army's patience | | | Left with no other alternative India has warned Pakistan telling it to put an immediate end to re peated ceasefire violations on the LOC and IB in Jammu and Kashmir. In fact whatever Pakistani troops were doing on the border in Jammu and Kashmir may ,at one time, exhaust the patience of New Delhi and the Indian forces deployed on the LOC and on the IB. Imagine the mischief Pakistani troops were playing on the border as during the last six days there have been more than 12 ceasefire violations which were accompanied by several infiltration bids. If the senior functionaries of the Indian Army are to be believed Pakistan seems to have become desperate after they failed to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir.Reports do indicate that the Pakistani troops were not simply needling the Indian troops but their repeated ceasefire violations had a specific purpose which was to help groups of militants to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir for escalating the level of violence. They are highly desperate because they know that if Pakistani agencies, including the Army failed to provide assistance to militants in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir the ensuing Assembly poll may be over without any major incident of violence. The agencies across the border know that a low key violence may not force voters to respond to the call for poll boycott given by the separatists. It is in this connection that India wants Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations along the border in Jammu and Kashmir as the ground realities in the country had changed.Pakistan should realise that the situation in India has changed now is a line of warning to Pakistan from the Indian Home Minister,Rajnath Singh. He was reacting to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu district in which five villagers were killed and 35 injured.Islamabad needs to know that the Narendra Modi government had adopted a tough stance vis-a-vis Pakistan and even cancelled Foreign Secretary level talks in August after Pakistan embassy in New Delhi had called separatist leaders from Kashmir for consultations. Rajnath Singh has asked the BSF Director General D K Pathak to get first hand information about the situation in Arnia area along the International Border in Jammu region. DG, BSF has been instructed to rush to the border areas of J&K where incidents of ceasefire violations have been reported.Last time Singh had asked the BSF chief to give a befitting reply to Pakistan for violating the ceasefire in the state.Congress and BJP said the ceasefire violations by Pakistan were a "serious" issue and it should desist from such activities. Even in Poonch sector Pakistani troops have violated ceasefire. Whatever Pakistan is doing is certainly a serious matter. And India wants to tell Pakistan that indulging in such activities is not good for that country,is the general refrain from the BJP and the Congress leaders in New Delhi. It is a serious matter when Pakistani Rangers resorted to heavy and unprovoked firing and shelling of mortars on 10 border outposts (BoPs) and civilian areas along International Border (IB) in Arnia belt of Jammu district from 10 PM last night in which five people were killed and 29 injured. They used small, automatic weapons and mortar bombs to target the border hamlets and BoPs along the borderline. BSF troops guarding the borderline retaliated effectively and gave a befitting reply, he said, adding that the intermittent firing exchanges are going on in the area. This is one aspect of Pakistan's mischief and the other is determined bids being made by Pakistani troops for pushing groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir. This is evident from an incident in Tangdhar sector of north Kashmir where three terrorists were killed as the Army foiled an filtration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir. In these circumstances how can Islamabad expect New Delhi to resume bilateral dialogue for resolving various issues ?Modi has already conveyed to Pakistan that Islamabad has to create an atmosphere which was conducive for the resumption of talks but hitherto Islamabad has not initiated even a single step which could motivate Modi and his Government to resume the process of dialogue.Hope the world watches the potential of mischief and intrigue on the part of Pakistan.Hope the USA will take a serious cognizance of repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops if Washington is keen to restore peace in the south Asian region. |
