Modi Govt to roll out border residents plan soon
10/7/2014 11:31:16 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 7: Narendra Modi is likely to roll out comprehensive settlement plan for border residents and also the refugees very soon. The Central Government is in the process of the giving final touches to it and could be announced very soon.
"The plan is almost ready. We have taken the views of all the stake holders and will address the each constituency, especially the people of the border who are facing quite a hardship in consistent firing from the Pakistan," said a senior Central Government official in the Home Ministry.
The plan has been conceived by the Centre on taking feed back from the State and other groups. Its financial implications will be met entirely by the Centre. The urgency in rolling out the plan is on account of the firing which has left not only five people dead but there is growing anger against the Centre.
"The anger can spill over against the Modi Government. Modi had also talked about taking tough actions against Pakistan. The Congress is already stoking anti-Modi feelings and these can't be taken lightly," said the official.
The Modi Government is working on two pronged strategy. It has firstly given clear instructions to the BSF officials to hit hard at the Pakistan. And secondly it is rolling out plan to be sensitive to the people who have been hit hard by the firing.
The plan includes not only giving them alternative site of accommodation but also financial assistance in building their homes. This is also a part of the new strategy to move out the places in case the firing escalate and India wants to push it bit harder which could evoke strong retaliation from the Pakistan.
"The Modi Government doesn't want to risk the lives of the people, who had lived, along the border and suffered extensively. It wants to be sensitive as sensitive and also hard on cross border firing," said the official.
