Army conveys tough message to Pakistan | | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Oct 7: Even as almost entire International Border has turned into a live wire due to repeated ceasefire violations in last 24 hours, Indian Army today bluntly told Pakistan that India's response to each gun fired from across the border would be "effective, appropriate and immediate." Chief of Indian Army's military operations, Lt-Gen PR Kumar, resorted to hotline communication to convey India's concern over the ceasefire violations that spread to more than 40 border outposts today. Army sources said that DGMO level talks through hotline were held this morning and chief of Military operations of the Pakistani Army Major General Amir Riyaz was made aware of India's serious concerns over the incidents of unprovoked firing and shelling on the border as well as LoC. "We expressed our concern against ceasefire violations resulting in civilian causalities," Army officials said, adding that Pakistani army has been told in clear cut terms that "our response in each case would be effective, appropriate and immediate." India's DGMO also told Major Gen Riaz that "India reserves its right to carry out its response at any time." (UNI) |
