NSF criticizes Education Minister, alleges lack of basic facilities in primary schools | | | JAMMU, Oct 7: Expressing concern over the lack of basic facilities in primary schools of Jammu district, National Secular Forum (NSF) today criticized Education Minister Tara Chand. Addressing media persons, National Secular Forum (NSF) Chairman Jammu Unit Ajaz Shah said that the minister forget their duties and doing job only for collection of money through transfers of teachers, masters, lecturers. Ajaz Shah further said that it was very astoundingly that only in Jammu district 156 primary schools out of 978 primary schools have no potable water facility, 205 are running from single rooms and 57 from rented accommodations, is not so good. Many primary schools concerned minster has provided water tanks but in view of the shortage of drinking water supply facility, students could be found fetching water from natural sources. "In violation of the Supreme Court guidelines, which make it mandatory for all states to provide electricity connection and also install an electronic meter, more than 150 schools have no power connection and during peak summer season, the teachers are forced to take classes in open under shade of trees", Shah lambasted education minister. Most of the primary schools are running from single rooms also has no separate kitchen-cum- store facility. Government Primary Schools were totally neglected by Education Minister, due to which the enrolment in such schools has been witnessing a downward trend and private schools were flourishing", NSF Chairman said and added that the education must be first priority of government so that we are able to make our country and future bright. "Education Minister Tara Chand seems not interested to promote government education institutions across the state, and has busy to bring money through illegal transfers of employees who are working in said institutions", he concluded. |
