6 Assembly segments of Chenab valley go to polls today | Triangular fight between 4 major political parties | | Security put on high alert Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Kishtwar, Nov 24:- The six assembly segments of Chenab valley comprising three Districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban are going to polls in the first phase of election tomorrow along with nine other assembly segments of Kashmir and Ladakh province. Security has been put on high alert to thwart any attempt on part of the anti national elements to destabilize peace and tranquility in the area. As per the details available with "Early times", for the six assembly segments, Election Commission of India has set up 783 polling stations which includes 143 in 51-Kishtwar, 131 in 52-Inderwal, 139 in 53-Doda, 152 in 54-Bhaderwah, 121 in 55-Ramban and 97 in 56-Banihal for a total of 5,15, 262 voters, including 2,72467 males and 2,42,795 females. As per ECI data, Kishtwar Assembly has has 78,962 voters which include 40,741 Males and 38,221 females. A total of 10 candidates, including sitting MLA and MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, BJP's Sunil Sharma and PDP's FirdousTak are in fray from this constituency. Inderwal segment has 83,631 voters including 44,122 males and 39, 509 females and 13 candidates are trying their luck including sitting MLA Ghulam Mohamad Saroori, BJP's Tariq Hussain Keen, PDPs Abdul Majid Butt. In 53-Doda seat there are 11 candidates in fray while 83,770 voters are eligible to exercise their including 44180 male and 39590 females. Minister for R & B Abdul MajidWani, MLC Khalid Najeeb and Shakti Parihar of BJP are main candidates on this seat. In Ramban, 8 have joined the fight and 86,161 voters will elect the representative incluing 46367 male votes and 39794 female voters. The main candidates on these seats are ChamanLal of NC, Swami Raj of PDP and NeleemLangah. In Banihal 6 Candidates would try their luck and a total of 78107 voters including 42289 male and 35818 would decide their fate. The main candidates on this seat are MoS Power VikarRasool, SajjadShaheen of NC, B ARunyal of PDP and ShowkarDaing of PDP. The Bhaderwah Constituency has the highest number of 104631 voters among include 54768 males 49863 females voters. Muhammad ShariefNiaz of Congress, MehboobIqbal of PDP and DaleepParihar of BJP are the main contenders in fray from this seat. The seat was once represented by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. While talking to " Early Times" Deputy Inspector General of Police Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani said that full proof security was put in place for smooth polls. He said that militancy in the area is a negligible, added that counter intelligence grid fighting on militancy front is also in place to check such incidents. He said that in addition to paramilitary forces, army was also doing his job on militancy front. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammed Javed Khan informed the "Early times" all the polling staff has been dispatched to all the polling station, besides the security has also been strengthened in sensitive areas. He said that 45 polling station of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan are inaccessible, added that polling staff to these polling station has also been airlifted and dispatched to concern polling station. He said that all the arrangements has been put place and said that people can come to polling stations for casting their votes without and fear to strengthen the democratic process. |
