4 mandal pradhans, 28 sarpanches, 51 executive committee members support me : Pawan Gupta | “BJP candidate from Udhampur had secret meetings with Azad" | | Bivek Mathur
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 24 : Pawan Gupta, expelled BJP leader who is contesting election as an independent candidate from Udhampur, today alleged that Pawan Khajuria, the party's official candidate from the constituency, had clandestine meetings with Ghulam Nabi Azad before the announcement of ticket in his favour. He said when Udhampur people were expecting BJP mandate in his favour, Khajuria was allegedly holding clandestine meetings with Azad to contest elections on Congress ticket from Udhampur. Asked about his and Baldev Raj Sharma's expulsion from the party, Gupta said, "When I decided to contest from Udhampur seat as an independent candidate, I broke my relationship with BJP for cheating me. While denying me the ticket, the party said I had already lost two times from the constituency. How can BJP justify the mandate to Dr Nirmal Singh from Billawar when he is also a big loser both in LS and LA elections." "BJP didn't intimate me about my expulsion but I came to know about the Baldev Raj's expulsion from newspaper reports," Gupta said. "Even as I helped Dr Jitendra Singh for his victory by appealing people of each nook and corner of Udhampur district personally, the party has cheated me," he added. Gupta claimed that BJP's four Mandal Pradhans, 28 Sarpanches and 51 members of executive committee had come in his support. "This is obviously a sign of the BJP getting weaker in the town. No Modi wave will help the party's Udhampur candidate because the state BJP has cheated the public while announcing mandates," Gupta said. |
